OUR HISTORY
Befanco Ltd is a family-owned and operated company that was established in 1973 by former Beasley French & Co Ltd employees, in fact the company operate from an old Beasley French factory on Vale Lane, Bedminster Bristol (UK), where the machines were originally made as shown on the historic documents on this page.
The company was originally formed as an engineering company called A R Craig Engineering Ltd by Ron Craig and John Bryant (Individual photo), John was a former Beasley French employee who had worked in the planning office, they also employed another former employee to help start their business.
In the early stages, the company was predominantly used as a sub-contractor by the original company to manufacture parts for their machines, they also undertook any other engineering requirements from local customers.
In 1979, Johns son Richard was taken on by the business as they continued to grow through their work with Beasley French & Co Ltd. When Ron left the business in 1987, John and Richard acquired his shareholding and become joint owners.
Due to the continued demand for their Beasley French work the pair formed a subsidiary business in 1990, Beacon Engineering was setup to fulfil a restoration contract for six Beasley French machines with a local paper bag manufacturer, this business employed more former Beasley French & Co Ltd employees. This company was later dissolved after they had completed the contract and successfully restored the customers machines.
John retired from the business in the late 1990s and Richard later acquired his shareholding in the business. The company has continued to operate as it did in the early stages by supplying paper bag manufacturers around the world with parts for their machines, as well as supplying a service to local customers.
In 2008 Richard introduced a third generation to the business by employing his two sons, Dan and Jordan.
In 2018 the company made the decision to rebrand and concentrate on the Beasley French market, this included a change to the business name (Befanco Ltd) and an introduction of a website and global presence. Since then Befanco Ltd has grown and developed in a structured manner whilst maintaining the robust foundations that have underpinned the business since inception.
